Post-meeting blues
Went for a meeting in London today. Got up at quarter to seven. Have only just got back. Illustration of me below…
This whole ’smoking ban’ lark is really starting to piss me off. I’m a firm believer in not caring about other people, so I don’t see why I shouldn’t be allowed to smoke at a train station or, in fact, into the uterus of a heavily pregnant woman - I pay my taxes. I can’t complain too much though, since I realised today that - as our freedoms are slowly eroded - new and exciting ways to make money more than make up for the semi-fascistic police state we currently are living in.
In an inspired flash of inspiration, it occurred to me that the gathered masses of poor, victimised smokers huddling outside such spacious stations are in an ideal position to be brainwashed by evil, faceless corporate types. If the government were to install televisions playing adverts in those areas just outside of stations and bars and clubs, they could charge big money for companies to make use of them and the smokers will absolutely love it - they will be grateful for something to distract them from their own self-loathing, loneliness and rapidly impending death.
Everyone’s a winner.
