Colour me unsurprised

Self-Gratification June 16th, 2007

The initial draft of this, inaugural, blog was originally a cleverly-written piece announcing my current level of impressment. The eye-catching opening line liquefied expectation (not entirely sure what this means, but that’s some freakishly good copy right there) and lambasted your subconscious with some brilliantly self-referential narrative. The intention was to tickle your fancy with a short, snappy sentence stacked with suspense. It began: “Well, I am suitably impressed”. Awesome. Why am I impressed? You had to read on, of course. By leading you in such a way, searching for a resolution to such an enigmatic beginning, I exposed you to tales of my own magnificence – yet persisted in insisting that these prime examples of my personal deification were not what impressed me, and not the subject of the blog.

So what was the subject of the blog and what warranted the change?

Like most things in life, the answers to these questions are intrinsically linked.

Microsoft Word from Office 2007 was what impressed me so much - particularly, the programs ability to post articles direct to your blog. Whoo. This incited my interest so much that I actually wrote a blog, dedicated to the fact that this incited my interest so much. The article was great and my loyalty to Microsoft assured until the dastardly word processor crashed and I lost everything – my innocence, my joy, my impressment (yep, gonna keep using that) and my lovely words.

Still, that’s life. Now, I must pop off for a cup of tea and to say hi to my parents who have returned home after two weeks in Spain. I’ve heard them bustling around downstairs for about twenty minutes and I should really welcome them and prove I am still alive.
